My First Songbook is a collection of easy-to-play songs written in big, colorful and easy-to-read music notation. Even if you’ve never played an instrument, using this book and a color coded instrument, you and your kids will be developing your musical ears and playing an instrument in no time.

The colors in the book match the world’s most popular note-coloring system, Chromanotes(TM). This makes it perfect for Boomwhackers, bells, or a piano with color coded stickers. Each song also has a Solfege (Curwen) Hand Sign section. By singing with the hand signs, you attach pitch to a kinesthetic movement which helps develop your child’s sense of Perfect Pitch.
As a bonus, this songbook comes with a companion video course that walks you through the hand signs, explains how we read music and introduces kids to the idea of rhythm. It features the author, Mr. Rob, in an animated music lesson series that will walk your child through playing 3 of the songs in the book.
Featuring colorful and easy-to-read music with lyrics, notation, and hand-signs for 12 beloved kids songs: Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star, Row Your Boat, Farmer in the Dell, Sweet Beets, Avocado, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Hot Cross Buns, On Top of Spaghetti, Avocado, When The Saints Go Marching In and Jingle Bells.

This book is perfect for both my three year old and me! I LOVE it! This book lives on the top of our piano. Sometimes we pull it down to follow along with the Preschool Prodigies videos. Sometimes we use it to learn to play the piano. It makes my heart incredibly full to see my three year old son using his finger to read the music and play along with the notes on the piano. As an educator, I love that he is learning the left to right reading motion and the fraction set up for math. As a mom, I love seeing him fall in love with music. This book is PERFECT for beginning music learners!

I have used this book for the past 6 months with my music students. Not only is it perfect for bells but also boomwhackers and glockenspiels! They have instant success as the colour coded notes make it easy to follow. They ask every week if we can get the song book out! As a teacher there is nothing more rewarding that seeing the students have fun, develop a passion for music and experience success with their learning!

I have used this songbook with my 3 and 5 year old sons. They love the familiar songs and have fun using it with the glockenspiel. I saw another review that said they used it with boomwhackers. I can’t wait to try those as well. I plan on using this with my preschool class this coming year.

This book is a lovely addition to the Preschool Prodigies program!

My kids were so delighted when they first received these lovely, brightly coloured, kid-friendly books that they insisted on taking them to school to show them off to their teachers and friends. The printed version is of excellent quality and definitely worth showing off!

I love how they make basic musical notation a lot less intimidating and a lot more enticing to kids.

Another great idea and quality product that Mr Rob and his team can be rightfully proud of.

This book was just what I needed. It is easy to read and color coded just like the Bells. It’s been a great addition to have for the children to play songs from.

Seeing a song for the first time can sometimes be daunting. With the color-coded notes, anyone can sightread these songs with success and they don’t want to stop playing! Putting the “fun” in functional and seeing the excitement in student’s eyes when they realize they can play any song with ease is what makes my heart melt! Thanks, Preschool Prodigies, for creating such wonderful resources for everyone!

Our 4.5 year old boy was envious of his big sister’s piano lessons, until he started online lessons with Mr. Rob. Our son’s eyes were shining with pride and joy when he was able to play and recognize the fun melodies in the songbook. We played “Name that Tune” and he was beyond tickled that he could be the musician for our game. Eight thumbs up from our family of four!

Really excellent book. First of all, full of lots of information to get a non-musical parent caught up quickly, or for a child who has been working with the program to review. I’m starting my daughter on the lessons now at age almost 3, and I think it will be very helpful down the road to read back through and review some basic content. Second, full of familiar songs to play on the bells! Like I said, my daughter is almost 3, but was able to basically follow along playing Hot Cross Buns. The notation is very well done and intuitive. I’ll be adding the rest of the books in future for sure.

Music comes alive at our house thanks to PSP! My 4 year old can’t get enough of this and is picking up music like I never thought possible! Thank you, thank you PSP!!

I was not sure my children would be ready to play songs with no formal instruction. I was surprised at how quickly my son started following along with this book. The pages are colorful and easy to follow. It is fun to hear him play and both kids sing along.

This book is great cause 3 of the songs use the same tune so that if you know one of them you’ll already know the other.
