If you’re looking for something fun, colorful and musical to play for your next kid-friendly dance party, today’s quick YouTube channel review is for you!
Pogo is an artist from Australia for has been remixing popular music and TV shows for years. His compositions combine solid electronic dance grooves with small slices of pop culture classics to create soundscapes there are an addicting combination of nostalgia, electronic ear-candy and undeniably catch melodies. His YouTube channel has millions of plays and his compositions have been commissioned by Disney, Pixar and companies all over the world.
My own introduction to Pogo was a result of throwing a series of Baby Raves with my band Nature Jams. I queued up some YouTube videos to play as the doors were opening and everyone was getting settled, and when the Pogo tracks came on, it ended up being an all-out dance party before our band even went on!
Since then, I’m kind of hooked on Pogo. I pretty much always have his YouTube channel going somewhere amidst the sea of Chrome tabs that are my life.
Fair warning though… if you’re a hater of electronic music or non-acoustic sounds (like I once was), then Pogo probably isn’t for you. There is a lot of auto-tune and I often find myself singing along with lyrics that are more movie-quote than melody. I absolutely love it, and the internet does too, but it’s probably not for everyone.
Some of the videos feature one movie, like Toy Story, The Wizard of Oz, or Robin Hood. Other songs are more original in composition, like “There You Are” from his latest album “Weightless.”
Below are a couple kid appropriate favorites that you might enjoy for your next electronic dance party! Dim the lights, crank the jams and do your dance!
