Two New Series Announcements: Totigies Preview & Playtime Prodigies Announcement

by | Apr 15, 2018

Hey everyone! Mr. Rob here with a quick preview of TWO NEW SERIES that we’re working on here at Prodigies.

For most of 2017 and 2018, we’ve been focused on expanding the upward range of program by creating more difficult lessons for elementary school students.

Today, to kick off the Week of the Young Child, we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve begun working on two new series aimed at bringing Prodigies styled music lessons to the 0-3 age range!

Part 1 – Totigies – Music for Infants & Toddlers

Since my wife and I had our first baby 4 months ago, we’ve been thinking a lot more about musical materials for our infant. I shared a bit about what we’ve been doing with Lil so far, but of course, we wanted to make something Prodigies esque for her!

Being that infants and toddlers should have a bare minimum amount of screen time, we knew the series would have to be mostly audio, and so began work on Totigies.

The series is going to focus on presenting the same type of musical patterns thart we teach throughout Prodigies, with an emphasis on arepggios, scales and a musical quality that’s baby friendly and soothing on the ears.

The goal is to create a more passive listening experience that gives babies (and even pre-natal babies) some slow, gentle and soothing exposure to Solfege and to the chords, patterns and scales that make up early music education.

If you’re familiar with Prodigies, you’ve probably seen videos of our good buddy Boo, who’s singing and absolute pitch skills have been wowing us for years! His Dad Michael records a ton of music for Prodigies these days and so it seemed like Totigies would be right up their alley.

That’s why we’re thrilled to share two of the tracks that Michael and Boo have been working here on #MusicMonday during the week of the Young Child. This is the beginning of our efforts to expand Prodigies to even the earliest of age groups and we hope that you enjoy this sneak peek today.

More information and tracks from Totigies can be expected by this Summer!!

Part 2 – Playtime Prodigies – The Silliest, Funniest & Highest Energy Prodigies Series Yet

When we launched Preschool Prodigies two years ago, we skipped over a lot of the classic preschool music activities as we sought to introduce the hand-signs, the bells and our style of music lesson to our audience.

Two years later, we’re looking back and seeing just how much more we really could do with the earliest lessons that we created. Some of our most watched lessons are within the first Chapter of Preschool Prodigies, largely because they’re the easiest and the most do-able with kids ages 1-3.

Therefore, we’ll be spending some of the Summer and much of 2019 working on Playtime Prodigies! Playtime Prodigies will be focused on bringing more action songs, movement songs, and more songs focused on just 1-2 musical notes! They will all be super slow, super light on musical concepts, and super engaging, energetic and fun!

Some of our initial plans for Playtime Prodigies include…

– lots of 1 or 2 note songs animated in fun, colorful and kid friendly ways (like the slides, cars, balloons and stars from some of our earlier episodes)

– Solfege Sprints, where we hand-sign with just one or two notes as we jog, jump and jam our way through a musical workout

– Lots of songs about numbers and colors to help younger learners master these concepts before even starting with Preschool Prodigies

– Goofier moments with the hopes of making music fun and inviting before we get too far into playing our instruments and learning to sing in tune

Like the Performance Prodigies tracks we introduced in March, Playtime Prodigies will be designed to stand on it’s own, but also to complement the material we already have inside Preschool Prodigies.

In other words, if you’re running a class on Preschool Chapter 2, Lesson 1, you’ll also be able to dip into a corresponding Playtime Lesson that deals with the same concept as Preschool 2.1, low and high. Maybe you’ll want to start with the Playtime lesson first to introduce the concept, or maybe you’ll want to do it at the end as a high energy bonus!

We’ll be aiming to have at least a dozen Playtime videos up before we go back to school this fall and below you can see some initial screenshots that we’ve been using as a model as we toss around ideas and thoughts.

We hope you’re as excited about these new series coming to Prodigies as we are! We still have A LOT more advanced lessons to Primary Prodigies Chapter 2 ALL SPRING, so 2018 will see Prodigies grow both into an older age range and into some younger ages as well.
