Mr. Rob here with a review of my second favorite musical book from Barefoot Books, Creepy Crawly Calypso (see the Portside Pirates for my other favorite Barefoot Book).
Just from the title along, what’s not to love? It’s got alliteration, a musical theme and of course, kids love creepy crawlys!
It’s also a counting book that takes kids from 1 spider to 10 centipedes all while introducing different instruments used in Calypso music! My favorites are crawlys #8 and #9!!
And probably best of all, this book will help you and your young musicians take your air-instrumenting (a la air guitar) to a whole new level! As each instrument is featured, show the kids how to air-play that instrument (sax, guitar, congas etc) and encourage them to follow along.
Between all the new instruments, counting from 1 to 10, and giving you free reign to perform your best cricket-playing-saxophone impression for your class, the Creepy Crawly Calypso is a solid addition to any music class, personal library or preschool classroom! And like most of the Barefoot Books, it comes complete with the original version, a karaoke version and the sheet music!
Want to get the paperback for yourself?! It’s great for music classes, preschool circle time or an at-home sing-along with your kids!
